Does the free tier expire?

No. 60 conversions an hour per IP, forever, with the same agent and the same formats the paid plans use. Paid plans buy volume, retention and keys — not capability.

What counts as one conversion?

One input file producing one output file. A 25-file batch is 25 conversions. Failed jobs are not counted.

What happens when I hit the quota?

The API returns 402 with your usage in the body — it does not silently start charging overage. Scale is the only plan with metered overage, at $0.0004 each.

Can I run this on my own bucket?

On Scale, yes — point it at your own R2 bucket and files never touch ours.
